Solar · What we install

What actually goes on your roof.

No mystery hardware. We install tier-1 gear from the same three or four manufacturers every serious Florida installer uses — because they hold up in heat, humidity, and 130-mph wind uplift.

Panels

Q CELLS Q.TRON, REC Alpha Pure-R, or Silfab Prime. 430–450W monocrystalline modules built for hot-climate performance. 25-year product + 25-year performance warranty. Wind-rated to 2,400 Pa (150+ mph uplift).

  • Anti-reflective glass — more production on cloudy days
  • Salt-mist certified (IEC 61701) for coastal homes
  • Aesthetic all-black option at no extra cost

Inverters

Enphase IQ8 microinverters (standard) or SolarEdge with power optimizers. Panel-level MPPT means one shaded panel doesn't tank the whole array. 25-year Enphase warranty, 12-year SolarEdge.

  • Live per-panel monitoring in the app
  • Rapid shutdown compliant (NEC 690.12)
  • Battery-ready for future storage add

Batteries (optional)

Enphase IQ Battery 5P or Tesla Powerwall 3. Optional add for outage backup or maximum self-consumption. Not required in Florida — net metering makes the grid your battery.

  • Enphase 5P: 5 kWh usable, stackable, 15-year warranty
  • Powerwall 3: 13.5 kWh usable, integrated inverter, 10-year warranty
  • Adds ~$10k–$18k. See our battery guide before you buy.

Racking & roof types

IronRidge XR-100 for shingle. S-5! clamps for standing seam metal. Every install includes flashed penetrations, tested wind-load design, and roof warranty preservation from GAF/Owens Corning-certified crews.

  • Asphalt shingle — the standard, no roof re-work
  • Metal (standing seam or 5V) — no penetrations needed
  • Tile (barrel or flat) — hooks + underlayment repair
  • Flat/TPO — ballasted or tilt-frame

Monitoring

Enphase Enlighten or SolarEdge mySolarEdge app. Real-time production, per-panel diagnostics, and lifetime savings visible from your phone. We monitor your system too and flag underproduction proactively.

  • Alerts if a panel drops below spec
  • Utility bill vs. solar production side by side
  • No monthly fee — lifetime access included

System sizing

We size to offset 100–115% of your annual usage. Florida caps net-metering credit at 115% — oversize past that and you sell excess at ~3¢/kWh instead of 15¢. We pull 12 months of your Duke or TECO bills and use NREL PVWatts modeling.

  • Typical 2,000 sq ft home: 8–12 kW
  • Pool + AC-heavy home: 12–16 kW
  • Small business: 15–50 kW

Assumes 3.5% annual utility rate inflation (10-yr FL average). Actual numbers depend on your bill, roof, and loan terms. We give you real quotes, not ranges.

Credit requirements: Most solar loans need a 650+ FICO. Between 600–650, expect a higher APR or a bigger down payment. Below 600, a lease/PPA is usually the only path. We don't run your credit — the lender you pick does, at the point you're ready to apply.
Warranties & guarantees

What you're actually protected by.

Three layers of protection: manufacturer, installer, roof. Every install includes all three in writing. Ask any competitor to match this.

25year

Panel product warranty

Manufacturer replaces the panel for material defect. Backed by Q CELLS, REC, or Silfab — companies with a decade+ of Florida field data.

25year

Panel performance warranty

Guaranteed to produce at least 86–88% of rated output in year 25. Actual field data typically shows 91%+ retention.

25year

Microinverter warranty

Enphase IQ8 series: 25-year full replacement including labor coverage. SolarEdge string inverters: 12-year standard, extendable to 25.

25year

Workmanship warranty

We cover the install itself — mounting, penetrations, wiring, connections. If we caused it, we fix it. No dispute, no service fee.

10year

Roof penetration warranty

Any roof leak caused by our penetrations is our responsibility to fix. Flashed with EPDM/aluminum, sealed with lifetime polyurethane.

Lifetime

Monitoring & response

We watch your system for as long as it's on your roof. If production drops, we know before you do — and we come out to fix it at no charge under warranty.

Common questions

Straight answers.

How long does a solar installation take?
Most Florida home installs take 1–3 days on-site, with the utility approval and interconnect adding another 2–4 weeks. From "yes" to "your meter running backward," the typical timeline is 4–8 weeks total.
Do you handle permits and utility paperwork?
Yes — every one of them. Building permits, HOA submissions, Duke/TECO interconnection agreements, and net-metering setup are all included. You never pick up a form.
How long does a new pool build take?
A typical new gunite pool build runs 8–14 weeks from permit approval to first swim, depending on design complexity, decking, and inspections. Full remodels usually run 3–6 weeks. We give you a detailed timeline with milestones the day you sign — no vague "a few months."
Do you handle pool cleaning or weekly service?
No — we specialize in new pool construction and full remodels only. We don't offer cleaning, chemical service, or weekly maintenance. If you need ongoing service, we're happy to point you to a trusted local company in your area.
How much can I save with solar in Florida?
Most homeowners in our service area offset 90–115% of their power bill and see payback in 9–12 years at today's rates. Even without the federal tax credit (which expired Dec 31, 2025 for cash/loan buyers), Florida's net metering, 6% sales tax exemption, and 100% property tax exemption make solar profitable. We give you a specific number based on your bill and roof — no averages.
Are you actually licensed and insured?
Yes. All work is performed by Florida-licensed contractors carrying full general liability and workers' comp coverage. License and insurance certificates are provided with every quote — no exceptions.
Do you serve my area?
We serve Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco counties — Duke Energy and TECO territory. If you're on the edge or just outside, drop us your ZIP in the form and we'll let you know honestly.
Is the federal solar tax credit really gone?
The residential Section 25D credit expired December 31, 2025. If you buy with cash or a solar loan in 2026, there is no federal tax credit. The commercial Section 48/48E credit (30%) is still active, which is why solar leases and PPAs still make sense — the leasing company keeps the credit and passes savings on to you. If a competitor is quoting you a "30% tax credit" on a 2026 cash purchase, walk away.
What if my roof needs replacement first?
If your roof has less than 10–15 years of life left, we recommend re-roofing first. Otherwise you'll pay to remove and reinstall panels ($3,000–$5,000) mid-cycle. We do a free roof assessment on every site visit and will tell you honestly — we'd rather lose the sale than put panels on a bad roof.
What happens during a hurricane?
Every install is engineered to Florida Building Code wind loads (140–170 mph depending on your zone). Panels are rated to 2,400 Pa uplift and clamped with tested rail systems. Real Florida field data from Irma, Ian, and Idalia: less than 0.1% of properly-installed rooftop solar arrays sustained damage. Your homeowners policy typically covers solar as part of your dwelling.
Do I need a battery to go solar?
No. Florida's net metering makes the grid your battery — you export excess by day and pull it back at night at the same retail rate. A battery ($10k–$18k) only makes sense if you want outage backup or expect net-metering rules to change. We'll walk you through the math honestly. Most homeowners skip the battery on the first install.
What does solar do to my home value?
Owned solar (cash or loan-financed) adds an average of $15,000–$25,000 to Florida home values per Zillow and Berkeley Lab research. And thanks to Florida Statute § 193.624, the added value is 100% exempt from property tax through 2037 — you get the equity without the tax hit. Leased solar is more complicated at sale and can slow the transaction.
Can I finance the pool project?
Yes. Common paths: HELOC or home equity loan (best rates, 6.5–8.5% APR in 2026), unsecured pool loan through Lyon Financial or LightStream (8–15% APR), or cash-out refi if you're already planning one. We don't run credit checks — we introduce you to lenders when you're ready.
How much does a new pool cost, really?
Basic 14×28 gunite pool with travertine decking and screen enclosure: $65,000–$85,000 in the Tampa Bay area (2026 pricing). Mid-range with spa, sun shelf, and PebbleTec: $95,000–$125,000. High-end with vanishing edge, water features, and outdoor kitchen: $140,000+. Full breakdown in the free Buyer's Kit.
How much does a pool remodel cost?
Resurface + new waterline tile: $12,000–$22,000. Add coping and equipment upgrade: $22,000–$40,000. Full remodel with new deck, screen enclosure, and water features: $40,000–$70,000+. Every remodel starts with a free on-site assessment — no guessing games.
How fast do you respond to warranty issues?
For any production drop or leak, we come out within 48 hours. If it's covered under warranty (99% of cases), there's no service fee. We monitor your solar system remotely 24/7 and often know about issues before you do.
What if you go out of business?
Fair question — 40% of solar installers fail within 5 years. Your panel and inverter warranties (25 years) are backed by the manufacturer directly, not us. If we're not around, Enphase, Q CELLS, and REC still honor their warranties through their authorized service network. That's why we only install tier-1 hardware.
Can I add more panels later?
Yes. Enphase microinverter systems are especially expansion-friendly — each panel is independent. If you buy an EV, add a pool heater, or your family grows, we can add panels to your existing array in about a day. Note: net-metering rules require a new interconnection application when you expand more than a few panels.
